Mercedes B Service

Mercedes B Service

Do you own a Mercedes and want to keep it in tip-top condition? Well, if you answered yes, then the key to keeping your Mercedes running like new is by sticking to a regular maintenance schedule. The likelihood of breakdowns and niggly repairs increases if you do not service your Mercedes regularly.

Two types of Mercedes services have been developed to keep your vehicle performing at its best: the Mercedes A Service and the Mercedes B Service. They are as equally important as each other, and both are necessary to ensure your safety and preserve your Mercedes warranty.

Recently, a client brought  their Mercedes CLA to us for a service. However, they were unsure of the type of Mercedes service their CLA needed.

Fortunately, our Mercedes technicians have decades of experience servicing all Mercedes models. In addition to our technical skills, we have the expertise to deal with any problems you may have, identifying issues other garages may overlook. Every Mercedes service we provide includes a free safety inspection, offering excellent value and maximum safety.

During the Mercedes service, our specialist discovered an issue with the CLA. To find out more, read on.

Mercedes A Service vs Mercedes B Service: What’s the Difference?

Do you  know the difference between the two types of Mercedes services? At Somerset Vehicle Services, it’s one of the most frequently asked questions we get.

The following are some of the main differences between the two standard servicing options:

The Mercedes A Service is typically needed once your vehicle reaches one year old and should be repeated every two years thereafter.

The Mercedes A Service Includes:

  • Synthetic motor oil replacement
  • Oil filter replacement
  • Brake component inspection
  • Tyre inflation check and correction
  • Reset maintenance counter

The Mercedes B Service, however, is more comprehensive and is typically required one year after your Mercedes A Service, usually due after driving approximately 20,000 to 30,000 miles.

Mercedes B Service includes:

  • Synthetic motor oil replacement
  • Oil filter replacement
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter

After the B Service, the schedule usually goes back to the A Service and continues to alternate between the two services throughout the life of your Mercedes.

Our client with the CLA was uncertain of what service they needed, so our Mercedes service expert took over and was confident they could assist.

The information we have access to at Somerset Vehicle Services is the same as that available at Mercedes dealerships. As a result, we are able to offer you dealership-level service with better value.

We believe that this is one of the many reasons why this specific client chose to visit us.

What Happened Next?

According to the Mercedes digital service records, the client’s CLA needed its bi-annual Mercedes B Service. So, that’s what we did.

The safety of our customers is our top priority at Somerset Vehicle Services. That’s why we provide complimentary safety inspections with every Mercedes service. During our additional safety inspection, we discovered that the Mercedes CLA’s brake system had a problem.

Faulty brakes are responsible for 25% of all road accidents, so it was crucial that we fixed it as soon as possible.

There was a problem with the brake pad thickness on both the front and rear brakes, affecting braking performance and in turn safety on the road.

Changing the brake pads, discs, and brake fluid isn’t part of the Mercedes B Service. Nevertheless, our Mercedes servicing experts at Somerset Vehicle Services are extremely thorough and find faults that other garages may miss.

Our decades of experience, knowledge, and evaluation process allow us to assess the braking system of any Mercedes vehicle that comes to us for a service. We provide accurate testing and measurements without any guesswork.

Your vehicle is checked to ensure it is roadworthy. Our Mercedes service specialists discover problems before they worsen, so with us, you save time, stress, and money.

The moment we informed the client about their vehicle’s dangerous brake discs, they immediately approved us to complete the replacement works. All work on your car is only carried out with your permission; you are always in control.

While our expert serviced the Mercedes, we provided the client with a complimentary courtesy car. Generally, a Mercedes B Service takes about 2-3 hours, so it isn’t always necessary to provide a courtesy car, but we like to give you that option. This isn’t generally available at your local Mercedes dealership, at least not without extra cost.

Providing the Fix

Due to the CLAs brake discs being below the legal thickness, we replaced them with  genuine Mercedes brake discs and pads. Thanks to the high-quality parts we used, our client’s Mercedes warranty remained intact.

Once their brakes had been replaced, we put his CLA through a road test, ensuring the brakes were working properly. Our expert updated the Mercedes online service history in order to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty.

The Mercedes CLA passed all of the safety checks and our servicing expert was able to hand the keys back to the client, confident the braking system was now in top working order.

Our client was very happy to receive their Mercedes back the same day they dropped it off. In comparison with the main Mercedes dealerships, our team at Somerset Vehicle Services strives to provide a faster turnaround time. Despite our excellent value, we do not sacrifice quality.

In Summary

A recent client of ours needed to have their Mercedes CLA serviced, but they weren’t sure which type of service was required. Fortunately, our team of Mercedes experts have the necessary experience, skills, and technical expertise to offer all types of servicing advice. The CLA required the Mercedes B Service. Alongside the service, we carried out our free safety inspection. During this inspection, the Mercedes brakes were found to be in need of repair. The brake discs and pads on this vehicle were below the legal limit, meaning  the vehicle was unsafe to drive.

Our Mercedes specialist was able to source genuine Mercedes parts and replace the brake discs and pads within just one day.

We were pleased to be able to restore the CLA to peak condition and our client departed from our garage with confidence that the vehicle was safe for the road.

Is it time to service your Mercedes? Not sure what type you need? You don’t need to worry; our experts will help you.
